The construction project
The objectives of the PSE camp construction team:
During the school holidays, the construction project offers the families of PSE students the renovation or reconstruction of their homes, thereby improving the habitability and safety conditions of their houses.
This project enables families living in extreme poverty to access decent, stable accommodation that is protected from the elements and other factors of vulnerability, thereby contributing to their well-being and the continuity of their children's education.
Specific tasks:
-
Follow and comply with the instructions of the construction project coordinator, site manager and PSE social services team at all times.
-
Use personal protective equipment throughout the day and under the established conditions, ensuring its correct use.
-
Comply with all safety rules on the site, including respect for marked areas, loading and unloading procedures, safe movement and internal prevention protocols.
-
Only use authorised tools and materials, refraining from handling specialised machinery or equipment without the supervision of the technical team.
-
Do not intervene in structures, installations or technical processes that require professional qualifications (structures, electricity, plumbing, foundations, work at height, etc.), unless expressly indicated by the team leader or project coordinator.
-
Immediately report any situation that poses a risk to your own safety, that of your colleagues or that of the beneficiary families.
-
Behave in a professional and respectful manner, collaborating with the local team and all those involved in the work.

-
Respect the schedule, timetable and rules established by PSE throughout the duration of the stay.
How can I participate in the construction project?
This project does not constitute an independent volunteer profile. Participants will travel to Cambodia with their main profile (instructor, doctor, dentist or communications) and, once there, will sign a specific addendum detailing the tasks, obligations and safety rules of the construction project, which will be incorporated into their volunteer contract.
Volunteers do not participate in the construction project on a permanent basis. For most of the programme, they perform their main role (particularly as activity leaders for recreational and educational activities) and participate in the construction project for three or four days a week, according to the schedule established by PSE.
