Student Engagement Officer
Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) - For a Child’s Smile is a non-profit organization founded by Christian and Marie-France des Pallières, operating in Cambodia since 1995. Its mission is to help children escape from destitution and lead them to decent, skilled and well-paid jobs.
Recognized by the local authorities, PSE is working in respect of the country with the Cambodians and thus supports sustainable development.
Six main programs – adapted to the needs of the children – have been developed: food, health, protection, education & schooling, vocational training and help for families.
PSE helps more than 6,500 children and more than 6,000 graduates from PSE Vocational Training program graduates have already successfully integrated the job market with a real qualified position. PSE employs more than 650 people in Cambodia (Phnom Penh mainly) and 6 staff at the headquarters in France. 400 volunteers in different countries are actively working on making the organization known through fundraising donations and sponsorships.
In 2000, PSE received the French Human Rights Prize from the French Republic.

The Student Engagement Officer will be responsible for enhancing the educational experience and supporting the well-being of students by building strong relationships with both students, their families and public-school counterparts. This role focuses on improving students' learning outcomes, maintaining active communication, and fostering cooperative partnerships with public schools to ensure student success and engagement.
- Student Support:

Serve as a key support resource for approximately 250 students addressing their needs and concerns in collaboration with other staff.

Actively communicate with students, parents, and teachers to ensure a cohesive support network that promotes student well-being and academic growth.

Establish meaningful connections with students from grade 3 to 12, creating an environment of trust and guidance that supports their development and future engagement in school activities.

Act as a mentor and advocate for younger students, helping them navigate school life and build positive educational habits.

Coordinate EE students to join PSE events/Program

Offer skills orientation and guidance to support students’ long-term professional development
- Learning Outcome Improvement:

Ensure student learning outcomes through regular assessments and tailored support, helping students overcome academic challenges.

Work with staff and families to track student progress, implement strategies for improvement, and celebrate achievements.
- Public School Collaboration:

Maintain strong, productive relationships with teachers at public schools to foster mutual support for students' academic and personal success.

Regularly check attendance updates and encourage proactive collaboration with teachers at public schools for students needing extra attention due to absences or other challenges.

Monitor and follow up on schedule changes at public schools and PSE to ensure all students and families are informed and able to adjust accordingly.

Communicate any schedule changes to staff and relevant stakeholders to maintain a smooth transition and prevent disruptions to students' learning.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Community Development, Education, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, community development, or educational support, preferably within an NGO or non-profit setting
Skills
- Strong communication skills and an approachable demeanor to engage effectively with students, families, and public school staff.
- Knowledge of the local educational system and public school operations.
- Proficiency in [required languages], with a strong preference for local language skills.
Specific Technical Competencies
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, including regular travel for school visits.
- Comfortable using communication tools like Telegram for real-time updates.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours in response to changing schedules or school events.
