Environment Officer
Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) - For a Child’s Smile is a non-profit organization founded by Christian and Marie-France des Pallières, operating in Cambodia since 1995. Its mission is to help children escape from destitution and lead them to decent, skilled and well-paid jobs.
Recognized by the local authorities, PSE is working in respect of the country with the Cambodians and thus supports sustainable development.
Six main programs – adapted to the needs of the children – have been developed: food, health, protection, education & schooling, vocational training and help for families.
PSE helps 7,000 children and 7,000 graduates from PSE Vocational Training program graduates have already successfully integrated the job market with a real qualified position. PSE employs more than 650 people in Cambodia (Phnom Penh mainly) and 8 staff at the headquarters in France. 500 volunteers in different countries are actively working on making the organization known through fundraising donations and sponsorships.
In 2000, PSE received the French Human Rights Prize from the French Republic.

The purpose of this position is to raise environmental awareness among all PSE students and staff, provide technical support, and ensure the effective implementation of eco-responsible practices across PSE. This includes coordinating initiatives such as the Eco-Club, waste management and reduction, composting, energy conservation, green space development, vegetable production, and vegetarian meal promotion, as well as conducting environmental awareness activities and panels. The role also supports the integration of environmental principles into PSE policies, rules, and ongoing monitoring processes.

Environment Education:

Staff training and capacity building to engage all members of the PSE in environmental protection.

Develop and implement interactive activities that engage students with environmental topics and align with extracurricular activities.

Plan, organize, and conduct environmental training sessions/activities as scheduled.

Innovate and update training methodologies to apply the most effective approaches.

Monitor and evaluate the environmental curriculum to enhance content and improve learning outcomes.

Take initiative in developing and refining curriculum content and methodologies.

Research training approaches, material design, and assessment strategies to deliver high-quality environmental education to students and staff.

Environment Technical:
-
Provide technical support for the implementation of environmental initiatives across PSE, ensuring compliance with eco-responsible practices.

Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring projects related to waste management, composting, energy saving, green space development, and sustainable food practices, tec.

Support the Environment Manager in environmental protection, management, and conservation efforts.

Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and follow-up to ensure proper functioning of environmental systems and activities.

Collect, analyze, and report data related to environmental performance and sustainability initiatives.

Recommend improvements and solutions to enhance the effectiveness of environmental programs and operations.

Support in Program Definition, Follow-up, and Reporting:

Facilitate the implementation of environmental projects across PSE, ensuring alignment with program goals.

Prepare and submit project/activity proposals for approval, obtaining necessary validations.

Maintain accurate records of KPIs and other program data for effective monitoring and reporting.

Identify potential challenges and conduct risk analysis for programs and activities.

Support the definition of new environmental initiatives, including project objectives, budgeting, and KPIs.

Assist in data collection and analysis to contribute to mid-year, annual, and activity-specific reports.
Education
-
Bachelor's Degree in Environment, or related field
Experience
-
At least 3 years of experience in teaching/ training/organizing any environmental session and projects for young and adult learners

Experience in Project management/ facilitation
