Community Engagement Officer
Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) - For a Child’s Smile is a non-profit organization founded by Christian and Marie-France des Pallières, operating in Cambodia since 1995. Its mission is to help children escape from destitution and lead them to decent, skilled and well-paid jobs.
Recognized by the local authorities, PSE is working in respect of the country with the Cambodians and thus supports sustainable development.
Six main programs – adapted to the needs of the children – have been developed: food, health, protection, education & schooling, vocational training and help for families.
PSE helps more than 6,500 children and more than 6,000 graduates from PSE Vocational Training program graduates have already successfully integrated the job market with a real qualified position. PSE employs more than 650 people in Cambodia (Phnom Penh mainly) and 6 staff at the headquarters in France. 400 volunteers in different countries are actively working on making the organization known through fundraising donations and sponsorships.
In 2000, PSE received the French Human Rights Prize from the French Republic.

The Community Engagement Officer will serve as the primary liaison between the PSE and families of the students, fostering strong relationships and ensuring students and their families get essential support. This role requires a proactive approach in addressing and resolving issues related to students and families, as well as delivering workshops and conducting outreach to promote educational and social well-being.
- Family Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for approximately 200 families, addressing their needs and responding to any inquiries, concerns, or requests promptly.
- Maintain consistent communication and any implementation with families, ensuring they are informed of any changes that take place in PSE.
- Conduct at least one home visit per year for each family to assess and understand the challenges and needs of each family, document and report findings from visits, identifying any areas where further support is required. From time to time track the progress of each family after getting support from PSE
- Collaborate with families to register for any public service eligible for beneficiaries and ensure they understand the benefits associated with it.
- Family Support:
- Proactively follow up on any family issues, collaborating with internal departments and external resources to resolve concerns effectively.
- Address educational, financial, and social challenges that families may face, working to create a supportive environment for students to thrive academically
- Workshops and Training:
- Organize and facilitate workshops for families on topics such as "Parenting Skills, or any available public services and other relevant subjects that promote family well-being and educational involvement.
- Gather feedback from participants to continuously improve and tailor future workshops to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Monitoring and evaluation about the quality of the training and its impact.
- New Beneficiary Recruitment:
- Lead recruitment efforts for new beneficiaries, collaborating with local communities and stakeholders to identify and select the beneficiaries who would benefit most from PSE programs by respecting PSE’s criterias
- Oversee application and assessment processes to ensure a fair and comprehensive selection process for new beneficiaries
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Community Development, Education, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, community development, or educational support, preferably within an NGO or non-profit setting.
- Good networking, and knowledge of public services is a plus.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Specific Technical Competencies
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or workshops as required.
- Ability to travel locally for family visits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic and solution-oriented approach.
- Ability to work under tight schedule
