Job description :

S/he will be responsible to manage some key functions of PSE Chinese Program according to PSE policies and procedures including : 

  • Curriculum and learning activities with the Optional Program Manager 
  • Pedagogy development in coordination with Manager and Pedagogy department 
  • Fostering effective teaching, learning and management of the teaching resources  
  • Program Operations Management – staff management, team building, and leadership  
  • Be a model of teaching professional practice and be the expertise reference of other teachers  
  • Support the manager in assuring the teaching and learning quality 

 

Missions :

Scope of job: 
Staff management: Manage Chinese teachers team 

Problem solving: This position will deal with 

  • staff and student’s issues (classroom management, student behavioural and learning progress, students, parents, and teachers relation, students’ discipline, teachers 'performance) 

Communication: 

  • Work closely with the optional program manager and pedagogy manager to make sure that the programs, teachers’ performance and students’ learning can run smoothly;
  • Deal with HR to recruite both local and expatriate volunteers to suppport the team;
  • Work with Manager to communicate with other departments to support in the daily operation/performance

Budget management: NA 

 

Main Responsibilities: 


1.  Assess the results and adapt the educational and pedagogical material  

  • Develop assessment tools & exam tools for student
  • Work with manager and pedagogy to develop assessment tools for teachers ( recruitment , evolution)  
  • Monitor the implementation of the educational and pedagogical material in the school
  • Evaluate and re-adjust the educational and pedagogical material if necessary 

2. Develop the teacher capacity building: 

  • Follow-up the teachers by conducting the class observation in order to evaluate the training processes and effects 

 

3. Program Operations Management:  

  • Monitor for the quality of the Chinese program activities –
  • Ensure the student recruitment projection for Chinese classes with GE and PSEI
  • Manage the staff’s daily/annual performance
  • Promote teamwork and professional ethics
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the superiors  
  • Teach 5-6 hours per week
  • Fully perform the pedagogy and teaching administration roles for the assigned teaching classes
  • Manage the volunteer and teacher team evaluation processes (support the manger to set-up the teachers’ objective, follow-up, feedback, performance appraisal)  
  • Be the reference to teachers and pedagogy department on teaching program, materials, assessment tools development
  • Participate in leading/creating/developing the learning reinforcement projects/extra learning activities with the teachers/volunteer team (study clubs, contests, …)
  • Assure the daily best practice of the teachers on their teaching class and students management (perform the class pop-in/formal/informal observation)
  • Monitor the daily teachers’ performance, checking the quality of teacher’s administration works, evaluation from Pedagogy department,….)
  • Manage the class replacement and teachers’ attendance
  • Support the manager and pedagogy department on the English program development (curriculum, assessment/teaching/learning tools, teaching materials/aids, other supporting learning activities, …)
  • Support the manager in leading the program assessment, events, projects, …
  • Support the manager in assuring the works and accuracy of the program statistic management
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the superiors
Profile :

Education 

  • Bachelor Degree in Chinese (gain the native level in Chinese proficiency, B2)
  • Pedagogy Certificate is a must Experience
  • At least 2 years experience in teaching 

 

Skills 

  • Proven experience as an outstanding teacher
  • In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and educational updates/innovation for teaching Chinese as a second language
  • Excellent leadership and influential abilities
  • Well-organized, creative, and energetic
  • Strong moral values and discipline
  • Interpersonal and communication skill
  • Good command of English
  • Good computer skill _ Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail and be comfortable with Google applications
  • Varied knowledge of digital class teaching tools is a plus
