A Look Back at the play "Chers Parents" in Hong Kong
The French International School (FIS) in Tseung Kwan O was buzzing with excitement from November 20th to 23rd. Following the success of Abribus, the French-speaking community once again came together for "Chers Parents" (Dear Parents), a sharp and heartwarming comedy that played to sold-out audiences for four consecutive nights.
A Distinguished Guest and Popular Success
This edition was particularly special thanks to the presence of screenwriter Armelle Patron. Having traveled specifically for the occasion, she shared behind-the-scenes insights into this critically acclaimed work, which has now been adapted for the big screen featuring French cinema icons André Dussollier and Miou-Miou.
Under the direction of Agnès Seelinger, the cast—Bertrand Leduby, Charlotte Gryson, Jean-Baptiste Peloux, Gaëlle Neau, and Paul Milon—delivered brilliant performances, masterfully navigating the complexities of family dynamics, love, money, and misunderstandings.
More Than a Play: A Concrete Mission for PSE
Beyond the artistic performance, the heart of these evenings was solidarity. In collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the event aimed to support the association "Pour un Sourire d’Enfant" (PSE).
Thanks to the incredible mobilization of the audience and partners, the funds raised will be partly dedicated to supporting children in Cambodia. As Armelle Patron beautifully stated during her interview on La French Radio:
"Supporting PSE is an added gift on top of the joy of having written this play."
A Lasting Impression Between the laughter and the poignant moments, theatergoers (ages 10 and up) left with one question in mind: "And you, how would you have reacted?"
A huge thank you to the organizers, the actors, and especially to you—dear parents and friends—for your immense generosity.
