Evening English classes: PSE and Westline committed to helping students develop their skills

Since 2023, PSE has been offering evening English classes, especially to students whose public school education is funded by the association. As the school year comes to an end, it is a time for students, teachers, and even families to reflect and share their experiences. Discover their testimonials below.

Westline and PSE: A partnership strengthening Education

Launched two years ago, the Evening English Course Project was designed to enhance young people’s language skills. The project became possible through a partnership with Westline Education Group (WEG), an expert in English training programs.

Thanks to this collaboration, Westline teachers and PSE educators work hand in hand, bringing varied teaching methods and unique expertise to more than 450 students—at a preferential rate for PSE.

SOVANN Bormey, English teacher of PSE “This program is a collaboration between PSE and Westline. I teach on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Westline teacher teaches on Thursday and Friday. We switch and work together to support our students.”

Westline manages the program—including teacher recruitment, student selection, attendance tracking, class organization, and identifying areas for improvement—with the support of the PSE social team, particularly for student recruitment and family relations.

Mastering English: A key to future careers

From the moment children are taken into care by PSE, English is considered a vital skill to complement their education and open pathways to skilled employment.

The evening classes benefit 300 students aged 10 to 18 from public schools supported by PSE. Every day at 5:45 pm, they join an hour-and-a-half session after their regular school day.

SOVANN Bormey, English teacher of PSE “I think it's very important to teach our students during this evening class, because most of them don’t spend a whole day in PSE. Meeting them in the evening allows us to understand what they really need from us.”

HONG Reaksmey, mother of an English program student “English is an international language. It is very important because people all over the world use English to communicate.”

Encouraging interaction: A human approach to education

Every evening, students gather in a friendly and supportive environment with a shared goal: mastering English. Calm focus is blended with laughter, camaraderie, and encouragement.

UNG Beworld, 17, student of the English class “I'm very proud to be here. It’s not just a place where I study—it’s also where I feel safe, comfortable, and happy. My friends here are more than friends; we are like family, helping each other.”

On the last day of school, teachers organized a sharing session, where students expressed their feelings to classmates—offering apologies, gratitude, and memories. It was an emotional moment to close the year together.

SOVANN Bormey, English teacher of PSE “I think they appreciate that we are here to support them. They know we are always there for them, and that makes them very happy. I am also very happy to be with them.”

Looking ahead

After two successful years, the program will be renewed and expanded next year, welcoming even more students.
