Stay involved with PSE+, the network of former volunteers

PSE+ is a network of former volunteers at Pour un Sourire d'Enfant (PSE) who want to stay in touch with the association. Stay involved with the children through PSE+!

PSE+ (Pour s'Engager Encore plus) is the network of former volunteers at Pour un Sourire d'Enfant. It is a community open to all those who have committed themselves to the association in Cambodia, on solidarity missions, internships, VSI or summer camps!

A means to maintain your commitment to Pour un Sourire d'Enfant

We have all shared an incredible experience within the association and wish to maintain the link, which is why we created PSE+!

This initiative has been set up by a team of former volunteers who manage the network by offering to those who wish to have a flexible commitment, according to their availability:

  • to keep a link between PSE and former volunteers (or youngsters interested in the association)
  • propose to those who wish to continue to be involved as volunteers in a flexible way (duration and place)
  • participate in fundraising and/or social projects
  • provide a link to PSE’s branch network and encourage young people to participate in the fundraising and communication activities as well as to provide testimonials about their experiences

« "I carried out a volunteer mission in 2018 at the Pour un Sourire d'Enfant business school. When I arrived in Cambodia at Pour un Sourire d'Enfant, it was as if a curtain had been opened in front of me and I discovered another world of meaning, solidarity and above all many smiles in adversity!" »

Marjorie

« "I worked at Pour un Sourire d'Enfant for almost 4 years, first as a voluntary education assistant, then on a VSI contract in logistical coordination and finally at the cinema school!" »

Leopold

« "Although I initially volunteered for a few months, the experience on site was so incredible that I very quickly asked to extend for a year... and then for a second year! It was a very rich experience from a personal point of view, but also very formative on a professional level. I was lucky enough to work in a 100% Cambodian team that was very committed to youngsters!" »

Solidarity race: the Phnom Penh Express

During the confinement in March 2020, former summer camp volunteers wanted to do something to raise funds for PSE. They therefore established a real sporting challenge: to run the equivalent of the 12,000 kilometres between Paris and Phnom Penh, collecting donations. The challenge was 100% digital, and the donations were used to fund emergency food aid during the Covid-19 pandemic. Result: 27 participants and nearly €15,000 raised!

The second race in 2021, had 60 participants covering 15,644 kilometres and raised €19,609 in donations!

In 2022, the challenge continued with a 3 week online challenge! 15,643 kilometres covered and €9,034 raised to finance the school support programme in Cambodia.

The Summer Tour of former volunteers in 2021

Every year for the past 25 years, Christian and Marie-France des Pallières, the founders of Pour un Sourire d'Enfant, have been conducting a Tour to raise awareness of the association and its needs in Cambodia. With the Covid-19 pandemic, this Tour was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.So in the summer of 2021, 8 former volunteers decided to take over: 9 dates, from the South of France to Brittany, to screen the documentary film Les Pépites by Xavier de Lauzanne and to talk about their humanitarian experiences.
