PSE at the Cambodia Town Film Festival 2018

Palm Tree, prepared by our Film School, and the documentary Little Gems, have been selected by the Cambodia Town Film Festival 2018 in the USA !

CTFF is a four-day film forum that will introduce new studio and independent features, documentaries, foreign features, short films, animated shorts and re-released classics. One of the key purposes of Cambodian Town Film Festival (CTTF) is to highlight the diversity of the Cambodian experience through the art of filmmaking.

The programs will include a variety of special events and panel discussions featuring directors, producers, writers and actors. CTFF will provide a creative forum for emerging filmmakers. CTFF offers the opportunity for student early-career filmmakers, and seasoned filmmakers to showcase their talent and gain exposure.

Palm Tree short movie has been shot by a team of teachers & students of our School of Media. Our School of Media is a 3 year program allowing students from poor families in Phnom Penh to integrate the audiovisual sector. According to their specialization, students can pursue careers in cinematography, sound engineer or post-production. Palm Tree is about the story of Daro, a 20 years old man. His father collects fruits on palm trees. After he graduated from high school in Kampong Speu, he gets a scholarship to study in Phnom Penh where he decides to hide the poverty of his family situation.

On September, 15th, the festival will also screen Little Gems, by Xavier de Lauzanne, at 2.30 pm! This documentary is the extraordinary human story of Christian and Marie France and how they changed the lives of more than 10,000 kids in Cambodia over 20 years.
