Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) - For a Child’s Smile is a non-profit organization founded by Christian and Marie-France des Pallières, operating in Cambodia since 1995. Its mission is to help children escape from destitution and lead them to decent, skilled and well-paid jobs.

Recognized by the local authorities, PSE is working in respect of the country with the Cambodians and thus supports sustainable development.

Six main programs – adapted to the needs of the children – have been developed: food, health, protection, education & schooling, vocational training and help for families.

PSE helps more than 6,500 children and more than 6,000 graduates from PSE Vocational Training program graduates have already successfully integrated the job market with a real qualified position. PSE employs more than 650 people in Cambodia (Phnom Penh mainly) and 6 staff at the headquarters in France. 400 volunteers in different countries are actively working on making the organization known through fundraising donations and sponsorships.

In 2000, PSE received the French Human Rights Prize from the French Republic.

Job description:

This position is accountable for quality implementation of Human Education program and curriculum including provides the Human Education sessions to students in General Education level to seek for developing the productive personalities and attitudes.

    Missions:

    Ensure quality delivery of Human Education program  

    • Coordinate with School Managers to formulate the planning and schedule, and ensure the planning/schedule are implemented effectively
    • Develop the pedagogical sheets and materials of each lesson/topic of the program
    • Conduct pre and post assessment with students to see the progress of student’s learning
    • Facilitate the Human Education sessions to students by integrating the active pedagogy such as participatory approach, Project based learning etc.
    • Elaborate the manual of Human Education program 

    Develop/update the Human Education curriculum 

    • Conduct a time-bound assessment to identify the needs of student’s learning on Human Education program
    • Conduct the research on the implementation of soft and life skills in order to innovate the Human Education curriculum to meet 21st century of Education
    • Develop/update the Human Education curriculum to ensure Human Education program resource rich and response to the needs of the students

    Document the lessons learned

    • Participate in meeting with school manager, student affair officer and teachers regularly in order to update and evaluate the progress of Human Education program
    • Document and disseminate the lessons learned and stories of change of students who impacted from Human Education program 
    • Share the good practice of Human Education implementation to internal stakeholders in PSE if necessary

    Provide the counseling to students

    • Identify the students who who have problems with attitudes and behavior and need the counseling
    • Provide the counseling to these students in collaboration with school manager and student affair officer
    • Participate in the class council with School director, Student affair officer and teachers
    • Follow-up the progress of students behaviors and attitudes with appropriate tools
    Profile:
    • Bachelor degree of Education, Psychology or any other relevant fields
    • Pedagogy certificate required
    • At least 2 years experience in implementation of Human Education program
    • Human Education curriculum development is an advantage
    • Strongly demonstrated in young and adult learning
    • Strong knowledge of Human Education program
    • Good interpersonal communication skill
    • Strong Coordination and facilitation skill
    • Proficiency of English
    • Very good computer skill : Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail
    • Be comfortable with Google applications
